The walkthrough
-
01
Get your wallet sorted
~3 minYour wallet’s just an app on your phone that does three jobs: holds your bitcoin, buys it, and sends it. Exodus is non-custodial, so you’re in control of it yourself; no company sitting in the middle holding your cash.
-
1
Download Exodus
Grab it off the App Store or Play Store. Make sure the publisher says Exodus Movement, Inc. before you install.
-
2
Tap “Create wallet”
No signup, no email, no password to keep track of. You’re good to go in under a minute.
-
3
Back up your secret phrase
Exodus gives you twelve words. Write them on paper, not in your phone. This phrase is your master key: it restores everything if your phone carks it, but it also is your money to anyone who lays eyes on it. Keep it offline and keep it to yourself.
-
4
Switch your currency to AUD
Head to Settings → Currency → AUD and do it now. Leave it on the default and every price you see will be off.

02
Buy your bitcoin
~5–10 minBuying happens right inside Exodus through Banxa, a payment provider that takes a normal bank card.
-
1
Pick Bitcoin, then hit Buy
Both are sitting on the main screen.
-
2
Enter the amount in AUD
Check it reads AUD first. Chuck a couple of extra dollars on your total, since network fees come out of what you send and you don’t want to come up short.
-
3
Do Banxa’s ID check
They’ll want your email, address, a photo of your licence or passport, and a selfie. Every crypto purchase in Australia runs this way, no way around it. Banxa handles the lot, and none of it comes to us.
-
4
Pay with a debit card
Debit gets through far more often than credit. A knock-back usually won’t sort itself on a retry, so don’t keep flogging the same card.
-
5
Give it a bit to land
Often a few minutes, sometimes closer to half an hour. Once it’s through, the balance turns up in Exodus.

03
Send it our way
~2 minGet your order started before you send anything. Checkout spits out a one-time address and the exact amount to pay.
-
1
Copy the address from checkout
It’s made fresh for your order, so use the one on screen and nothing else.
-
2
In Exodus, open Bitcoin and tap Send
Paste the address into the recipient field. A green tick means Exodus is happy with it.
-
3
Match the bitcoin amount exactly
Enter the BTC figure from checkout, not the dollar value. If Exodus caps your decimals and you can’t type it spot-on, use “Max” and send the whole balance rather than rounding down.
-
4
Swipe to send
Give the address one last squiz before you do. Once it’s gone, there’s no getting it back.

We’ll take it from here
Hands offOnce the network spots your payment, your order sorts itself out.
-
1
Confirmation’s automatic
Usually minutes, now and then up to thirty. Nothing needed from you.
-
2
Been over an hour with nothing?
Flick us your order number and we’ll chase it up. Nothing sent on the blockchain goes missing, it can always be traced.
