The arithmetic

Units on an insulin syringe are hundredths of a millilitre — 100 units is 1 mL regardless of barrel size. This tool is provided for informational and research purposes only. All products sold by Gila Labs are strictly for laboratory research and are not for human consumption.

How to calculate peptide dosage

Pick your syringe

Insulin syringes come in 0.3 mL, 0.5 mL and 1.0 mL barrels, marked 30, 50 and 100 units. A unit is always one hundredth of a millilitre, so the barrel size only changes how much you can draw at once, never what a unit means.

Enter the vial strength

This is the milligrams of peptide in the vial before any water is added — commonly 2, 5, 10, 15 or 20 mg. It is printed on the vial and on the certificate of analysis.

Enter the water

The bacteriostatic water you add sets the concentration: strength divided by water gives milligrams per millilitre. More water means a weaker solution and a larger, easier-to-measure draw for the same dose.

Read the draw

The syringe at the top shows where to pull the plunger to on the barrel you chose. Drag it to work backwards from a draw you can actually measure. If a dose needs more volume than the syringe holds, the calculator says so.
